China’s Software Industry Revenue Up 24.5% In H1 2013

From January to June 2013, China's software industry realized revenue of CNY1.39 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%, according to a report from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

During the first half of 2013, the Chinese software and information technology service industry maintained stable performance. The monthly growth rate was about 25%, which was zero to three percentage points lower than the same period of last year. For specific sectors, the growth of IC design and embedded system software saw an obvious slowdown; while the growth of software products and system integration developed rapidly.

According to the report, IC design software realized revenue of CNY39.5 billion during the reporting period, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%; embedded system software realized revenue of CNY222.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.2%; software products reached revenue of CNY444.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27%; system integration reached revenue of CNY295.1 billion, also a year-on-year increase of 27%; information technology consulting achieved revenue of CNY144.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.8%; and data processing and storage services achieved revenue of CNY245.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.4%.

In addition, China's software exports and outsourcing service growth continued to slow. During the first six months of 2013, China's software exports saw an increase of 10.3% year-on-year to CNY17.4 billion, while the growth rate was 1.4 percentage points lower than the same period of 2012. The outsourcing service saw an increase of 17% to CNY4.01 billion, while the growth rate was 7.6 percentage points lower than the same period of last year.
